Akashia's drag name comes from the vampire "Akasha" from the movie "Queen of the Damned", based on the novel by Anne Rice and played by Aaliyah in the movie. She has previously dressed up as Akasha for Halloween.[3]

Trivia[]
Akashia was kicked out of her house at the age of 17 for being gay, which she discussed during her time on Season 1.
Akashia is the first queen...
...from Ohio.
...to survive a lip-sync, as well as the first queen to lip-sync twice and thrice, thus making her the first "lip-sync assassin".
...to lip-sync in every episode she competed in.
She is also the only contestant to accomplish this that survived at least 2 lip-syncs.
Similarly, she is the first queen to lipsync in the first 3 competitive episodes of the season. She has since been followed by BenDeLaCreme, Denali and Samantha Ballentines.
When Season 1 aired as "The Lost Season" in 2013, they mistakenly showed a fan twitter account (@DragAkashia) as if it were hers. She does not have an active Twitter.
Akashia stopped doing drag in 2017 when her hometown bar closed, but returned for the Season 10 finale.[4]
